Violet and Pups

Violet & Pups

The night of January 18 we drove out to the country to pick up a nursing mama collie and her 5 pups who were living on the porch of a vacant house. Violet had been dumped on a country road just before Christmas, probably because she was pregnant. The people who owned the house fed her and contacted rescue. Violet's 5 pups are all healthy and will be available for adoption around March 1. They appear to be mixed with another herding breed -- perhaps shepherd. Violet, however, has a longer road to good health. First she must wean her pups and put on some weight. Then she will be spayed and after she has recovered from that surgery, she will have heartworm treatment. Violet is about 3 years old. She is a good mama and is very grateful to be living inside the house. If you would like make a tax-deductible donation for Violet and her pups, please contact Smyrna Animal Hospital at 770-436-2431 or StFrancisRescue@aol.com ***** Watch for updates!

Lady

Lady, approximately 18 months old, 45 pounds, needs to put about 10 pounds. She was shaved down in the past and is too thin, but otherwise healthy and will be beautiful once she has filled out. Lady is an extremely affectionate girl. Rides well in the car, fine with other dogs and LOVES people! Lady learned to use doggie doors the first day at her foster home. She loves taking naps on the couch and has very good house manners. A fenced yard is required. For an application, please email StFrancisRescue@aol.com

Foster Homes Needed

St. Francis Rescue, Inc. is in need of foster homes for collies, preferably in the Smyrna/Vinings/Marietta area. A fenced yard is required. All foster dogs are completely vetted and food is provided. This beautiful collie is Robbie He went to a foster mom who took good care of him until he was adopted. If you would like to help other collies like Robbie, please email StFrancisRescue@aol.com

Champ

Champ

Champ is a 5-6 year-old sable-headed white collie. 60 pounds. His owner didn't want him anymore and took him to the dog pound. Champ was very frightened there and eagerly jumped into the SUV to drive to the vet. He is a very nice dog -- quiet and laid-back, kenneltrained, housetrained, uses doggie doors, likes to walk on a leash, is good in the car and good with other dogs, large & small. For an application, please email StFrancisRescue@aol.com

Honey

Honey

Honey is 8-9 years old, 46 pounds. Her owners could no longer care for her so they took her to the shelter. Honey is good with other dogs, large and small, but would also be fine as an only dog. She likes car rides, comes when called, is good on a leash (really likes her walks) and is very good in the house -- she is an inside dog. This little lady is extremely easy to care for, likes children and is still spunky and playful. For an application on Honey, contact StFrancisRescue@aol.com

Sarah

Sarah

Sarah is a smooth-coated collie. She weighs 69 pounds. The vet guesses she is 3-5 years old, perhaps younger. She was left behind in a pen when the backyard breeder moved out of his house. Concerned neighbors contacted Rescue. Sarah loves soft toys and playing with the other collies. She is housetrained, uses doggie doors and enjoys her evening walks. She is very good in the car. Sarah is crate trained and will scamper into her crate for you. This elegant lady is calm, affectionate and wants to please. For an application, please contact StFrancisRescue@aol.com
